ABOUT ROULETTE:

Roulette was first played in France approximately 200 years ago. More systems have been devised to play roulette than any other casino game.

THE ROULETTE WHEEL, THE BALL, AND WHEEL VERSIONS:

Roulette consists of a wheel and a ball. The wheel has 37 pockets where the ball can land, and each is numbered 0 to 36 on European versions. The American version of the wheel has an additional number (total 38), which is 00. Although it varies between casinos, typically the ball is spun one direction around the wheel, while the wheel is spun in an opposite direction. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls onto the wheel, coming to rest in one of the numbered pockets.

THE (CASINO) HOUSE EDGE:

On the European wheel the house edge is 2.7%. On the American wheel, is 5.26%. The casino achieves its edge by paying out slightly less than what it should be if there was no house edge.

THE AIM OF ROULETTE:

The aim of roulette is to predict where the ball will land on the next spin. With no particular strategy, or rather a strategy without valid foundation, players are statistically guaranteed to lose which is how casinos make their money. Some players rely on luck, although most players implement a system. Although any system can win in the short term, the only way to win roulette in the long term is if the player’s system is able to predict where the ball will land with enough accuracy to beat the house edge. If this weren’t the case, the casinos wouldn’t be in business.

CAN THE HOUSE EDGE BE BEATEN?

Whether or not roulette’s house edge can be beaten has been debated since the game was created. In attempt to beat the house edge, countless systems have been devised. Almost every system attempts to utilize patterns and progression where bets are increased or decreased depending on whether players win or lose.

Among the most common patterns used by systems is the law of a third that states: After any number of spins, an average of a third of these spins will be repeats. So on a European wheel where there are 37 numbers, after 37 spins, approximately a third (12) of the spins will be repeats. This at first may appear to be useful information, but in reality it does not even slightly decrease the house edge, nor does it give the player an advantage because you still cannot determine WHICH of the numbers will be repeated with enough accuracy to beat the house edge.

Another popular mythical law on which many systems are based is the law of disproportion, where if you took a sample of 50 spins, there will almost never be an even number of red and black spins. But again, this is common sense and simple statistics, and the knowledge does not enable us to determine exactly where to bet or where the disproportion will occur with enough accuracy to beat the house edge.

To beat the house edge, and therefore win in the long term, you must be able to predict where the ball will land on the NEXT spin. You do not need to predict it with perfect accuracy – only enough accuracy to beat the house edge and swing the odds in your favour. This is the only way roulette is beatable in the long term. The best and quite possibly the only way to determine where the ball will land on the next spin is explained at GenuineWinner.com.

Despite popular beliefs, where the ball lands is not “random” or entirely unpredictable. Proof of this has been published by the media: a gambler was caught using an electronic device that utilized physics and the dynamics of the wheel to predict where the ball will land. He amassed over $100,000 profit in a very short period of time. Use of such a device is illegal in some (but not all) casinos, although it supports the fact that roulette can indeed be beaten. GenuineWinner.com explains the legal version of the gambler’s system – it is a simplified and practical version that does not require the aid of an electronic device. At the same time it is purely mechanical, and may be applied without having any view of the ball and wheel itself.

THE PAYOUTS:

A bet on one number only, called a straight-up bet, pays 35 to 1. (You collect 36. With no house advantage you should collect 37 (38 in the USA on double zero roulette wheels).

A two-number bet, called split bet, pays 17 to 1.

A three-number bet, called street bet, pays 11 to 1.

A four-number bet, called corner bet, pays 8 to 1.

A six-number bet, pays 5 to 1.

A bet on the outside dozen or column, pays 2 to 1.

A bet on the outside even money bets, pays 1 to 1.

Roulette is a very simple game to play. In the simplest terms possible, to play, you simply place bets on the table that correspond to the numbers on the wheel.
