No
doubt you're aware of card counting and the various success stories. It can and
does give you an advantage in the casino, but how much of an advantage?
Especially with changes casinos have made, with card counting alone, the best
you can realistically hope for is around a 1.5% edge.
While over time this will profit you, the problem is you can play blackjack countless hours in the casino for a relatively little profit.
OTHER WAYS TO "LEGALLY" PLAY AND WIN AT BLACKJACK GAMBLING:
Whether or not the following techniques are legal where you play depends on the jurisdiction in which the casino exists. You should always do your research thoroughly.
MARKED CARDS: You'll notice almost all casinos use two decks of cards. They use it around 10 times (depending on the casino) before discarding the deck, or even often selling it to tourists. The main reason for this is the cards may be worn and develop distinct folds or marks, and therefore you are possibly able to determine what cards a dealer has. This will inevitably increase the predictability of the game, and increase your overall edge. This is an ability casinos don't want you to have. While it is illegal to tamper with cards (marking), marks can and do occur accidentally although it is very rare especially since in most cases you are not allowed to actually touch the cards. The procedures of some casinos are some what out-dated, and cards are re-used too many times, and in such casinos, observing possible marks on cards can realistically give you a slight edge. Perhaps not enough to overcome the house edge, but every bit counts especially when you're aiming for an edge as small as 1.5%.
CARD COUNTING (Can give up to around 1.5% player edge): This is by far the most popular method for professionals. Most use the +/-1 method, although this is simplistic and easy to use, it is nowhere near as effective as card counting can be. The best possible card counting method is of course knowing exactly what cards are left in the deck / shoe. Unless you have a photographic memory, it is just not realistic to be able to memorise every card that has been dealt. However you CAN realistically keep track of the number of specific cards such as ACES that remain in the deck. And by knowing this information, you can determine (with better than random accuracy) the likelihood of the dealer or yourself having blackjack / 21. If you are particularly skilled blackjack player, you can use both the +/-1 method AND specific card tracking methods.
SHUFFLE ANALYSIS (Can give over 5% player edge): It is almost impossible for cards to be shuffled in a completely random and unpredictable manner. Casinos use all kinds of high tech shuffle machines, yet they still cannot achieve random shuffles. This is good for the player, but how can you possibly determine the patterns of a shuffle machine? You of course must use a computer. It is "predicting" outcomes and you are not tampering with the cards, so it is not illegal in most jurisdictions. However of course casinos will kick you out if they know you use such technology because they don't like to lose. Because electronics are required and because the technology is somewhat difficult to develop, the technology is very rare. If the technology is created correctly, you can increase your edge by as much as 5%.
ABOUT ME AND MY BLACKJACK COMPUTER - SHUFFLE ANALYSIS AND CARD COUNTING COMBINED:
My name is Stefano Hourmouzis. I have been developing all kinds of gambling systems and electronic devices to beat casino games for well over 10 years. Roulette most certainly is my game of choice, primarily because it's without any doubt the most profitable casino game there is. You may have heard otherwise - you may have heard roulette is completely random. Again, I'll clearly state it is by far the most predictable and profitable game in the casino. With card games such as blackjack, you are extremely limited to the edge you can obtain - the most you can ever achieve is about 7%. While that is an enormous edge for a card game, it does not compare to the 50%+ edge you can obtain with roulette. To obtain a 50%+ edge, you do NOT need electronics - in fact my system at www.genuinewinner.com can realistically achieve that kind of edge on many wheels. My roulette computers at www.roulettecomputers.com can do much better even still.
However if you are more comfortable with playing blackjack, see www.blackjackcomputers.com - this is my blackjack computer under development. You can purchase card counting computers that use the +/-1 method, but my computer is so much more. It is an exact card counter, AND a shuffle analysis device combined. The algorithms and heart of the computer is complete, and now we are working on making it easy and practical to apply.
It enables you to know EXACTLY what cards are remaining, so when you input the cards in your hand and what the dealer has, you will be told via a covert wireless and completely invisible earpiece exactly where to bet. If that's not enough, the computer also analyses the patterns of the shuffle machine and can dramatically increase your edge so give you a combined edge of almost 7%. While this still doesn't compare to the edge obtained in roulette, it is an enormous edge for blackjack.
It is still under development and will be available late 2007.
